A Foundation of Collaborative Learning with Udutu

The experience using Udutu definitely surprised me. I found that I spent my of my time learning how to use the interface and not so concerned about the organization of the project. After many hours of learning how to upload different forms of media, I found that the presentation of my lesson was less than optimal. I was impressed with myself for be able to use the application to create online learning modules, but I don’t think is any more effective. It does provide a means for students to access and practice music at home, but I find that the lack of a personal guide will made it less engaging.

This has been an interesting class, fast paced as usual. Using Udutu has been an experience. I went over the material once, but it was so long that i had to review it several times in order to began using it. Then there was the issue of posting it to my facebook that was a little confusing. Finally (crossing my fingers) I got everything working.

This project has definitely been an eye opener. I was really overwhelmed when I started the project. I think this was mostly because I worked myself up about the project. Udutu does have its challenges, but I was surprised at how quickly I was able to grasp the program. The tutorials were great. I completed the first couple of steps along with the actual tutorials. That made it a lot easier.

I love the concept behind UDUTU, however, I had a few frustrating moments take place during the creation of my lesson. It seems, as I'm sure others have pointed out, that one puts in so much time to prepare this wonderful lesson and it only takes the learner a few short minutes to complete. I did, however, love the fact that you could insert an assessment at any point and the different templates they offer were great. Of course, there were several different ways I would have liked to assess the learner, but there was no template set up in that fashion.
The tutorials and forums were great. They really answered many of my questions and quickly. It is nice to see that others are out there using this great tool and even having the same issues as I am. Please, feel free to check out my UDUTU project by clicking on the link below.
